As we come to the realization that there is no getting out of getting old, we are always looking for different things and different ways in which we can help ourselves stay young looking and feeling younger at the same time. Garlic, not only is great to use as an anti-aging agent but garlic is sometimes considered to be its own pharmacy. This powerful little piece of seasoning is also an antibacterial agent along with being an antiviral agent, full of antioxidants and is great when used as a blood thinner for those who need this. It also can be eaten daily without any adverse effects. Below you will find different ways to use it in order to help slow down some of the signs of aging and help maintain a balanced and healthy body.

One thing you can do is to take raw garlic and chop a clove up and put it on a salad and eat it this way as daily additive to your salad. To get the full anti-aging benefits from the garlic it really should be eaten raw if at all possible.

You can also take one or two small cloves of garlic and swallow them every day like you would your daily vitamins. This is a great way for those who simply don't like the taste of garlic but still would like the benefits they can get from it.

Take a head of garlic and put it in your oven and roast the head until all of its cloves are softened. Then you can take the cloves and squeeze them out of their husks and put them on a plate. Take a butter knife and spread them on a bread product in place of butter. You should do this about once a week.

When you are using fresh garlic to season soups and sauces you should wait about ten minutes or so after you have chopped the garlic up before you put the garlic into the sauce or soup. This will keep in more of the anti-aging components of the garlic during cooking.

You can also consider purchasing garlic supplement and take that on a daily basis. This type of supplement will give you the same benefits of garlic just in the form of a pill and there is no smell that lingers. This is especially good for those who simply do not like garlic or the smell it has.

It is best if the garlic you choose to use is smooth and white as well as very firm and has a slight odor upon smelling. Make sure to never use any garlic that appears to be soft, has a sweet smell or has any kind of dark spots forming on it. If you are going to store your garlic for just a couple of week you might want to make sure it's hung in a basket where it's easy to get to. If you want to store it for longer than this you need to put it in a bag that's plastic and keep it in your refrigerator.

If you don't like the smell that garlic gives your breath after you have eaten it, an easy way to combat that is to eat some parsley right after you eat the garlic, this will get rid of the smell immediately.

It's important to note that if you are scheduled for any kind of surgery you should not digest any garlic four weeks before or four weeks after your surgery. This is because of the ability that it has to thin your blood.
